Simple Boys Themed Birthday Cards

One of the things I knew I had to do over the holidays is create some more cards for the students in my class.  I do like to give them a hand made card and I have no more boys cards.

It is actually amazing what you can do with one piece of paper, and some journaling cards.  I used some Bella Blvd products and like I said, I had one piece of paper and a package of journaling cards.  The main images were fussy cut from three of the cards, I then used bits and pieces to add some interest.  The white grid paper are actually journaling cards I have left over from my Project Life days.  As a final step, I used a variety of SRM stickers and then mounted the images on Foam squares.   They are simple but have you ever seen how a grade 1 boy looks after their stuff?!  Not sure if these even get home in one piece sometimes!

Each Day is a New Beginning

I love sketch challenges so when I saw the new one for this week at My Favorite Things I had to play.

I pulled out some Heidi Swapp project life paper and then the theme of the card just came to me.  When I saw the days of the week paper, I knew it would work perfectly with the 'each day' sentiment from the  Work Out stamp by Simon Says, and of course… a cup of coffee tea suited it… and I just went from there.  I used the Hot Cocoa Die from MFT along with the Take Note and Amazing Stamp sets.

I mounted the cup with some Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives

Here is the sketch that I was inspired by:

And now I am off to get dinner in the crock pot, organize my craft room and I will be back later with some simple birthday cards for boys.

Hot Chocolate kind of day

There is something about winter…now it is not my favourite season - that would be fall… but I do love parts of winter - one of which is being stuck indoors - having time off work and lots of crafty time!

I also love to create winter themed projects and so here is another card.  Once again I have used the fun Winter Wonderland collection by Pebbles. I have paper pieced the girl from the September KOM (Our Hearts to Yours) by Unity.  Don't you love her sweater?!

I have also backed her with the Flurry Frame by Memory Box.  Another fun thing… she is supposed to be holding an ornament that says 'joy'.  However, I cut the ornament away and fussy cut a mug from the pattern paper and mounted it on some 3D foam squares by Scrapbook Adhesives.  Fun hey?!  Also stretches the use of the stamp.

I am playing along with the Unity Be Inspired Challenge.  There are a few days left, be sure to play!

And now I think it is time for tea :)

Snow Day cards

I got the inside Christmas put away and the house mostly cleaned and organized so I played.

I used the Snow Day collection by Lawn Fawn and some faux snow to create some winter cards.

First up, I wanted to use the Concord & 9th stamp set that I won Mugs and Mittens and they paired nicely with the Hot Cocoa Die from MFT

Next up I wanted to use the mug from the September KOTM (Our Hearts to Yours) by Unity. I paper pieced it and mounted it with Foam Squares by Scrapbook Adhesives.  I then used a Simon Says die  and some SRM Stickers.  The image is mounted on foam squares.

Tomorrow I tackle the outside Christmas stuff and then my craft room.

First Snow Joy

First my grand daughter played, then I played ;)

I couldn't wait to scrap these photos I took yesterday of Kaiah's first snow… She did seem to enjoy it, although she didn't stay out too long - today though was a different story, she had a lot of fun, sledding with her mommy.

I used the Good Cheer Collection by Elle's Studio along with some SRM Stickers.  The colours and patterns were perfect for the look I was going for.

I just picked out a few pieces from the collection and went to work layering.  I love to adhere the SRM Stickers right onto my photos.  I fussy cut the diamonds from the pattern paper and just added some stitching.

This journaling card was just perfect because she really does bring us a lot of joy!

Warmest Winter Wishes

My house looks like a bomb went off again, but really it is just from my grand daughter :)  But while her and her mom were sleeping, I decided to play.

I used the Wish Season collection by Fancy Pants along with a PTI stamp and die and the Mittens and Mug stamp set by Concord & 9th.

To create the snow drifts I used a Snow Drift die from MFT and then as a final touch I added some Aleene's Glitter Snow.  The sled and mittens are mounted on some Scrapbook Adhesive foam squares.

Christmas and New Years cards with the same papers.

Almost Christmas and I am here with a couple more cards.  I am up on the My Mind's Eye blog today and I decided to go with some clean and simple, easy cards.  I used the Christmas on Market Street collection.

This first one was super simple - a journalling card, some chipboard and then mounting the large snowflake using some foam squares by Scrapbook Adhesives.

I really like the look and feel of this tone on tone card.

Now it is also my day up on the Scrapbook Adhesives Blog so I decided to use the same collection and create a New Years card.  The card stock is all from My Mind's Eye but I have used some of the Scrapbook Adhesives Foam squares to create my shaker card.  The stickers are from SRM Stickers and the shaker die is from Avery Elle.   This is also for the Little Red Wagon challenge - Sparkle and Shine and the Simon Says - Make it Sparkle Challenge.

Warm Wishes Christmas card

Whipped up another card this morning… good thing these last few cards are going local :)  I used some Kaisercraft papers along with some MFT dies and felt.

My winter/Christmas cards never seem complete without some vellum snowflakes… and of course some stitching and staples :)  I am just loving this Cozy Mittens Die, especially with the sweater prints.  This time I have paired it with the Flurry Frame die from Memory Box and the Let it Snow dynamics from MFT - which I used for cutting the felt snowflakes I used to embellish the mittens.

Playing along at the last minute in the MFT sketch challenge and of course the Simon Says Die Crazy Challenge.

Wish Season winter cards

Another one of my favourite collections this year is the Wish Season from Fancy Pants.  It had me at woodgrain and pink :)

I paired it up with some dies from My Favorite Things and Simon Says for some fun and festive winter cards.

First up, of course winter, woodgrain and trees make me think of tobogganing out in the mountains and sitting around a fire with some warm hot chocolate.  So that is where I went with this first card.  Nothing better than a good, rich hot chocolate on a cold winter day.  The stamp Hug in a Mug is a MFT one and it coordinates with the Hot Cocoa die by MFT

Next up, I didn't want to waste the negative cut piece when I used the Winter Snow die by Simon Says so I created another winter themed card.  Again, the mitten dies Cozy Mittens are from MFT.  The small sentiment on the tag is from PTI.

I am once again playing with the Simon Says Die Crazy Challenge.

Now I think I better clean the house!

Winter Wishes birthday

A friend of mine has a birthday coming up and she loves owls so I had to use this cute little guy Owl Bundle Up from Unity and he worked well with the Winter Wonderland collection by Pebbles.  I love how stylin' this little guy is :)

The Winter Snow die is from Simon Says and of course I had to add some vellum snowflakes. :)  Once again, playing along with the Simon Says Die Crazy Challenge.

Some last minute Christmas Cards

Yep, I did it… I ran out of Christmas cards!  I still need a few more so guess what I will be doing the next couple of days?!

Today I used my Claus & Co by Simple Stories to create a trio of cards.  I love this collection and had a hard time breaking into it… so many great designs and pieces I want to save them :)

First up I played along with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and came up with this card.  The tags are actually panels cut from a piece of the pattern paper, I just made them into tags.

The next card I created I had fun with.  I fussy cut the tree from another panel in the pattern paper and then I mounted it on foam squares. The other bits are pieces of pattern paper and stickers from the collection.  I then topped it with a die cut from the Merry & Bright die from Simon Says…. playing along of course with the Simon Says challenge - Die Crazy

Finally, as always I try to create a skinny card to use up the strip of card stock left over when I cut 2 41/4 X 5 1/2 cards from a 12 X 12 piece.  I used some of the chipboard frames and backed them with pieces of pattern paper.  Of course finishing off with some messy stitching and staples.  Both of which I love using :)

All of the cards are created with the Color Q challenge for this week:

Boy Themed Birthday Cards

Hi again :)  I ran out of boy birthday cards in my classroom stash so I had to whip up a couple tonight.  I have 2 birthday boys and a birthday girl to present cards to tomorrow!

I used the Cameron collection by Elle's Studio and went to work.  I cut out a couple of 6s from the pattern paper and then just played with some scraps.

For both cards I used my Nested Star Die from My Favorite Things and some SRM Stickers for some quick and easy layers.  On this first card I also used the Happy Birthday Die from MFT.

On this card I cut the 6 out of the pattern paper then punched it into a circle.  A final touch with a few blue sequins (little boys like a bit of bling too :)  )

I am playing along with the Simon Says Challenge:  Die Crazy

A set of Winter Wonderland themed cards

Oh my goodness... somebody pinch me... is this real? Another night of crafting?!  I'll take it!

I juse LOVE the Winter Wonderland collection by Pebbles, so fun!  I decided to make good use of my time and create a couple of cards.  It is very hard for me not to clip on some clothespins... but they needed to be postal friendly.

First up this card using some MFT dies and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink.  Those little 'snowballs'... well they were just scraps laying on my desk and I thought they make a nice addition rather than a sequin.  I adhered them with a small DODZ.

Next up, I wanted to use some of my scraps so I created this card.  The dies are from PTI and this time the stamp is from MFT.   Once again I am playing along with the Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop as well as the Simon Says Tag Challenge.
